How to Set Up Exchange on Windows XP

Using Microsoft Outlook 2003 to access your @ne.tamu.edu email.

- Off Campus -

1. If this is the first time you've attempted to set up Outlook:

Click 'Start' and then 'E-mail', as below. Skip to step 4.

2. If you've set up accounts in Outlook before:

Click 'Start', right-click 'E-mail', and click 'Properties', as below.

3. Select 'E-mail Accounts...'. Skip to step 7.

4. At the Startup screen click 'Next'.

5. Select 'Do not upgrade', and click 'Next' if prompted for 'E-mail Upgrade Options'.

6. Select 'Yes' and click 'Next' if asked to 'configure an E-mail account'.

7. Select 'Microsoft Exchange Server' and click 'Next'.

8. At the 'Microsoft Exchange Server:' prompt type 'exchange.ne.tamu.edu'.

At the 'User Name:' prompt type your NE username. Click 'More Settings'.

9. Click the 'Connection' tab, check the box 'Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP', click 'Exchange Proxy Settings...'.

10. Type 'mulberry.ne.tamu.edu' at 'https://', check 'Connect using SSL only' and 'Mutually authenticate the session...'.

Type 'msstd:mulberry.ne.tamu.edu' for 'Principal name for proxy server:'. Check 'On fast networks..." and check 'On slow networks...'.

Select 'Basic Authentication' for 'Use this authentication when...'. Click 'OK'.

11. Click 'OK'.

12. Click 'Finish'. If necessary click 'Start' and 'E-Mail' again to open Outlook.

13. Open Microsoft Outlook.

Enter your NE username in the following format: 'ne\username' .

Enter your NE password for 'Password'.
